Rosroe is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the shores of Killary Harbour in the heart of Connemara. Killary Harbour is a natural fjord, extending ten miles into the Connemara countryside.

Killary Harbour Hostel is situated next to the house occupied by the famous philosopher, Wittgenstein, and is now available for letting at very reasonable rates, either nightly or for longer terms.

The harbour area is noted for its nature trails, famine walk and hill walking. The harbour supports fishing, scuba-diving and sailing and most water sports.

The house is situated across from Mweelrea Mountain, the highest mountain in Connaught. This can be accessed for mountain-climbing.

There are quiet, sandy, child-friendly beaches in the locality.

Altogether, Killary, with its spectacular scenery and quiet location, makes an ideal holiday destination for either the young or the more senior who appreciate quiet surroundings and friendly local people.
